The Ciudad Deportiva for the past, present and future
Through until Saturday, February 20th, an exhibition showing the evolution of the Ciudad Deportiva will be on display at the VCF Academy Media Center, to celebrate the training facility's 30th anniversary. The story stretches back to February 19th, 1992.
In 1974, under the presidency of Francisco Ros Casares, Valencia CF held an Extraordinary General Assembly, in which the Board of Directors requested the approval from members to begin the process of acquiring land located at Paterna. The intention was to build the Ciudad Deportiva, one of the most ambitious projects of the time.
Finally, despite controversy due to the bad economic situation that the club was in during the period, the result of the vote was in favour, and the start of the procedures for the purchase of the land was approved.

After negotiations began, in December 1976 the deeds for the acquisition of the land at Paterna where the Ciudad Deportiva was planned to be built were finally signed. Although Ros Casares had initiated the procedures for the acquisition of the land and had previously made their purchase effective, it was not until this date in 1976 that the deeds were officially signed.
After a great debate from club members, Valencia CF acquired an orange grove of some 350 ''anegadas'' at a cost of 70 million pesetas. The purchase ended up being a great success and investment for the team.
Finally, under the presidency of Arturo Tuzón, the construction of the current sports complex began. Two football pitches and changing rooms were built, which allowed the club to hold first team training sessions there.

On February 19th, 1992, the Ciudad Deportiva facilities were officially inaugurated by Joan Lerma, president of the Generalitat Valenciana, and Valencia CF president Tuzón.

This sports centre has been a national benchmark from the outset, maintained through successive renovations and extensions carried out to this day. Some of these updates have included:
• In the 2010/11 season, the comprehensive renovation of the 8-a-side pitches, the change to C2 sod and the new C8 artificial turf pitch.
• Biomass installation during the 2011/12 season.
• The creation of the new Media Center and the renovation of the changing rooms, and of the Chalet after the floods of the 2013/14 season.
• The renovation of rooms in the Residence and the ground floor of the first team area during the 2015/16 season.
• The dining room for the first team, the study, leisure and coaching room areas, the paving of the facilities and the exterior lighting for the first team for the 2016/17 season.
• The new laundry room, the renovation of the medical areas of the VCF Academy and the construction of new warehouses and workshops in 2017/18.
• C5 drainage carried out in 2018/19.
• The renovation of the boiler room and gymnasium for the VCF Academy in the 2019/20 season.
• The fencing of pitches in the 2020/21 season.

The Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna is a place where all our players coexist. In addition to training, multiple actions for entertainment are carried out, with the purpose of tying together competition with a lifestyle full of important values.
